Northwest Pump celebrates 60 years of business in 2019 and still holds true to the statement made back in 1959- “service is our business”. A lot has changed for NWP over the years, including the internal growth that now reaches 16 branch locations located in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Hawaii, Alaska, Montana and Arizona. With over 200 employees, Northwest Pump has become an industry leader in the distribution of Petroleum & Industrial products in the West.
One of the greatest accomplishments NWP has made over the years includes becoming employee-owned in 2006, giving all employees stock in the business. “Our Management Team felt that our employees, past and present, are the people that built the company to where it is today. They are our partners in everything we strive for, so it made sense to make it official and give them actual stake in the company,” Mark Mathews, NWP President/CEO.
To celebrate the 60 year landmark, NWP is launching a new brand that highlights the employee-ownership program, and a new website that is easier to navigate and highlights why customer service has been the main focus since the beginning. NWP has over 15 employees that have been with the company for over 20 years, and are the heart of the company. Needless to say, NWP has put a lot of trust behind their employees, and holds them responsible for so many years of success.
With a new brand, and some new employees added to the roster this year, NWP is excited to move into the future with the current team, and see what the next 60 holds.

Since 1959, customer service has always been our business, and to this day, that mentality still lives on. To work at the pump is to become part of a family. A family that grows, works hard, accomplishes goals and achieves what we set out to do all those years ago- serve our industry the best we can. Now in our 60th year, we have grown from a small 3 location company to 16 branch and over 200 employees. It is with hard work and dedication that we celebrate 60 years, and we can’t wait to see what the next 60 years holds for us! Northwest Pump prides ourselves on being able to not just serve our industry, but also help our community. For the past couple of years NWP has been assisting in Habitat for Humanity projects in Portland, Oregon where our corporate office is located. This year we are part of the Cully Build project which consists of building 15 homes in NE Portland’s Cully Neighborhood! It is with great honor that we are able to help the Habitat for Humanity team in their great effort to provide homes to families in need.
